Google passes Windows

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer is getting its feathers in a fluff over the fact that, for the first time, Google’s revenue has passed the revenue that Microsoft collects for its Windows operating systems. Microsoft’s Client division reported revenue of $3.808 billion in the most recent quarter, while Google’s total revenue was $3.872 billion. The paper acknowledges that Microsoft’s Windows earns a much higher profit – but how long will that last? The article ends with this: “Microsoft is projecting revenue growth of 9 percent to 10 percent in the PC Windows division this fiscal year. And what was Google’s revenue growth during the first six months of this year? Sixty percent.”
