In a strange bout of journalistic and PR confusion ZDNet seems to have got it wrong over how many virtual machines can be run under VMware’s new VMware Fusion product (Fusion allows Intel-based Macs running OS X to simultaneously run, for example, Windows Vista). According to ZDNet UK and their Autralian clone “any corporate appeal may be lessened by the news that VMware is limiting the scope of Fusion and that it will only support two virtual machines per user.”
Not so according to my source inside VMware who told me: “It is NOT TRUE that VMware Fusion only supports 2 VMs per user. In fact, it supports quite a few more; I’d give a number, but one is likely exhaust system resources before hitting the actual limit.”
