IBM readying the superest of supercomputers

The New York Times News Service reports that the National Science Foundation is planning to fork over funds to IBM to have it build the world’s fastest supercomputer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Documents describing the effort briefly leaked onto a government web site, according to the report, which says the computer will cost $200 million to build and be able to perform 1,000 trillion mathematical operations per second.
