Tandberg is making a play to improve its high-definition conferencing gear with its $270 million acquisition of Codian, maker of HD Multipoint Conferencing Units (MCUs). HD video is big for the industry and this move should help Tandberg with sales of its network gear to enterprise customers looking to buy from a single vendor. Codian has a nice product, but in a market where most of its competitors offer everything from endpoints to MCUs, it is tough for them to compete. I recently talked to Rick Snyder, president of Tandberg North America, about HD and its role in expanding the video market. Listen in here.
