Cisco’s Networking Academy celebrates its 10th anniversary this week with a delegation in Capitol Hill, led by CEO John Chambers, urging governments and business to join together to provide technical skills and education to the next generation of workers.
The academy provides technical education through institutions, such as schools, community colleges, and universities, and prepare students for the CCNA and CCNP certifications. So far, the academy has trained 2 million students in 160 countries. Cisco has so far invested $300 million into the academy.
According to Cisco’s survey of academy students, 91% said they use their newly aquired IT skills on a daily basis, and 40% reported the program has had a significant positive impact on their careers.
