While Cisco has its share of excellent technical experts, it might not be the first company you’d think of headlining an event called the Object-Oriented Programming, Systems, Languages and Applications event (OOPSLA 2007 ).
But Steven Fraser, who recently joined Cisco Research in San Jose as director of engineering with responsibilities for developing and managing university research collaborations, will be as prominent as anyone at the conference, taking part in panels dubbed “No Silver Bullet Reloaded- A Retrospective on Essence and Accidents of Software Engineering,” “Celebrating 40 Years of Language Evolution: Simula 67 to the Present and Beyond,” and “Software Best Practices: Agile Deconstructed.”
The Association for Computing Machinery-sponsored conference, taking place Oct. 21-25 in Montreal, features keynotes, discussion panels, research paper presentations and more.
Others on the agenda include Guy Steele, Jr. and James Gosling from Sun and Jim Purbrick and Mark Lentczner, also known as Babbage Linden and Zero Linden, on the Second Life virtual world.
