Earlier this month Microsoft announced HPC 2008, high performance computing cluster, the successor to Microsoft’s niche product, Compute Cluster server. I think this has been a highly overlooked product. Given the right software support, HPC has a LOT of real world uses. Code compilation seems the most obvious to me, however there aren’t any compilers built around using the HPC featureset. I’m surprised no one has designed any real products around the core technology. As-is home and small investors are about the only market. In other words, this a great answer waiting for a question.
