Cisco has released further details of EOS its Entertainment Operating System for delivering multimedia content to online communities. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, EOS will “monitor consumers as they interact on the communities with each other and with media, eventually offering recommendations for other content from across the Web.” The platform will also feed advertising to community members based on their activities. Cisco will host the software of which customers will pay a monthly fee. Online communities run by the National Hockey League and auto-racing organization Nascar will pilot a scaled-down version of EOS.

EOS uses technology from social networking company Five Across, which Cisco acquired almost a year ago.
