I’ve got a birthday coming and now have one item for my “wish list”: A used 1200mm Canon telephoto lens. Thankfully, the “used” part helps lower the price to the bargain-basement level of $99,000. As B&H Photo says in its description, “Calling this lens a ‘tele’ is like calling King Kong a monkey.” The 1200, of which there are less than 20 in the world, weighs 36 pounds and has a 9″ front element. It makes the 300mm telephoto zoom lens I have now look like a throw-away camera. I could take headshot portraits of the people in the office across the parking lot without leaving my desk.
Now THAT is a big lens
