Count BBN Technologies among the research outfits targeting phishing (we’ve been running across a lot of late, from MIT to Harvard and UC Berkeley).
BBN’s effort, dubbed PhishBouncer, is described by the company as an “architectural browser-independent platform for dealing with HTTP-redirection-based attacks.”
PhishBouncer is a sort of HTTP(S) proxy designed to protect individuals or groups by keeping them submitting info to bogus sites. It features an arsenal of tools, from blacklists and whitelists to proactive monitoring and static rules.
Ferris Research, which watches the messaging and collaboration markets, reports on its blog that BBN is teaming with Symantec to convert its research into commercial technology.
