Video cameras and airport security

Everyone knows that going through airport security you essentially have to strip naked and take the laptop computer out of your briefcase. But did you know some airports also require you to take out any video cameras you might be caring on? It’s not a uniform policy, though. Manchester, NH and Burbank, CA both make you take the camera out. But Las Vegas does not. Go figure. A TSA worker told me today that it’s in the recommended guidelines, so that’s why Mamchester requires passengers to separate cameras out. I guess the X-Ray machine can’t see through them all that well. Of course, the big battery for my portable light always causes some concern as well. That’s been “sniffed” for explosives on a few occasions. But surprisingly, microphones and iPods do not seem to cause any issues.
