IBM missed the first go-round of educational sales to Apple. Now that Dell has broken the Apple stranglehold on schools, IBM wants to get back in. I don’t blame them, although letting Dell and Microsoft break into the market leaves IBM running fifth.
Now they have a new, smarter approach: provide a ton o’ content. Read the story from AP via Yahoo about a school close to me buying IBM laptops in place of textbooks here
Hasn’t any company with an electronic book reader gone into this market? The school official quoted says a student set of textbooks costs $350. Are there no readers out there that cost less?
