I have a neigbor who always builds his own PCs. I talk to business associates who build their own PCs. I have resisted all these years, until now.
The Accordance people sent me a RAID disk assembly that fits into a PC and uses IDE (common and inexpensive) disks to make RAID systems that use the SATA (Serial ATA) hard disk connection. None of my systems have a SATA (or S-ATA to some) connection on the motherboards, so I couldn’t test it. I promised to get a new system soon, but didn’t exactly hurry.
Keith Shaw, reviews editor for Network World, sent me an nVidia GeFORCE video board which I think is the 6600 (no details arrived with the board). Keith wanted me to do a quick review of the board for a holiday gift special, so I needed a new PC for a second reason.
I had to get a new PC. I had to feel manly and build my own. I can’t fix my own car, but I could damn sure build my own PC, right? Piece of cake?
