Is there anyplace more mainstream than Wal-Mart? Or perhaps you prefer to call it blue-collar stream? Either way, the fact that Xandros powers the new low-end computer priced at $199 at Wal-Mart is impressive.
Of course, Wal-Mart has carried other Linux systems in the past, and have yet to put one physically on their shelves (that I’ve seen). This Xandros and Microtel box, and earlier Linux systems, are available at WalMart.com only.
The flip side of this good news could be that Wal-Mart chased away their previous Linux partners through some type of bad business behavior, or that sales were so poor the other Linux people pulled out on their own. Neither would be good news.
