So hackers swipe data from a computer within the French anti-doping lab that nailed American cyclist Floyd Landis, who is challenging its assessment that he cheated in winning the Tour de France.
Not exactly an endorsement of the lab’s reliability, eh?
Not according to Dick Pound, head of the World Anti-Doping Agency, who says: “Withdrawing documents and possibly altering them is an entirely separate issue. This does not reflect the lab’s competence. This is an exercise done illegally with the express design to throw doubt on the quality of the lab … and discredit the lab with forged documents.”
That may well have been the express design, and, if so, the express design appears to have worked better than does the lab’s IT security.
