Pinpointing the exact middle of the ‘Net

The so-called first page gets all the attention. And, as for the last page, well, who the hell knows?

But wouldn’t it be cool to identify the precise middle of the Internet, a virtual equator, if you will, that could be updated in real time?

Here it is – The Middle Page of the Internet – as created by Massimo Barsotti, quality assurance director for an Italian software company.

“I created it purely for fun,” Barsotti tells me. “It’s two hours of work done with my kids during a lazy Sunday: We found the ‘first’ and ‘last’ page of the Internet, and we thought that the page that stays in the middle was missing, so we put it together.”

A long-overdue public service.
