Open source proponent Matt Asay writing in Port 25 has some advice for Microsoft as it “will eventually get to an open source model, or die fighting it.”
“Go GPL.
This will sound ridiculous to those who don’t appreciate the nuances of the GPL, but the GPL is capitalism, pure and simple. It is the best way to benefit customers while inhibiting competitors, as I’ve argued before, which lends itself perfectly to Microsoft’s business.”
