Microsoft stalking Yahoo anew

Opinion
May 4, 20071 min

Microsoft is intensifying its courtship of Yahoo, according to a report in this morning’s New York Post. Rumored price is $50 billion. This is stunning: Who knew the Post had a business section?

(Update: The Wall Street Journal weighs in … with a nod to the Post, too: “The renewed talks are a sign of the continued growth in Google’s power and problems over the past year with in-house efforts at Yahoo and Microsoft to ride a boom in Internet advertising. Meanwhile, management changes at both companies could help pave the way for a pairing that a year ago couldn’t happen. The talks were first reported in the New York Post.” … There’s more to the Journal story and you don’t have to worry about the paper’s registration wall because this one’s on the house. Update to that update: Well, it’s free if you go in through Google News; the above link, not so free.)

(Update 2: Yahoo shares up a boatload.)

(Update 3: Chattering masses weigh in over at Slashdot.)
