Film festivals seem to a popular topic this week. First, I get a press release touting “World’s Smallest Film Festival”. Sponsored by BigDigit and taking place March 18 at the CTIA wireless show in New Orleans, the festival will judge entries in the following categories: Drama, Comedy, Music, Episodic, Instructional, Animation, and Commercial and Extreme Sports. Of course, all the films are displayed on mobile devices – adding to the challenge.
The other festival news is from Microsoft. Its Windows Media format is an official screening format at the popular Sundance Film Festival that runs through January 26 in Park City, Utah. Four feature length films will be shown using the new Windows Media 9 Series technology and Microsoft will also host a workshop for those interested in using Windows Media in cinema applications.
