Discreet today announced new versions of its popular digital effects products: Inferno 5, Flame 8 and Flint 8 are now shipping. The three products feature a new “mixed resolution feature” allowing any type of film or image to be imported and used in a project without having to manually create partitions for each new clip. Also added are a batch workflow process and enhanced 3D capabilities. If you’re a beginning user just looking to have a little fun with the home videos shot at the company picnic, these tools are not for you with price tags of $571,500 (Inferno), $266,500 (Flame 8), and $99,000 (Flint 8).
