SoundPix 2.0 is now available from the company with the same name. SoundPix allows user to do just what its name implies: add sound to pictures, be it music or voice overs. The program stores sound information in the JPEG image file itself. JPEG’s specification leaves an area for application data storage. Some digital cameras take advantage of this with EXIF format, which stores f-stop and shutter timing information. To look at and hear the photo, a viewer needs to first download a SoundPix plug-in for Internet Explorer. Be warned, some third-party photo editing tools do not support the data portion of a JPEG file, deleting it when the image is modified. SoundPix is available for $39.95.
