A scant seven months after acquiring Placeware, Microsoft has renamed the company’s Web conferencing offering Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2003. Soon the Placeware name will just be a footnote in history. Along with “rebranding” Placeware, Microsoft also renamed it’s Real-Time Communications server, now calling it “Office Live Communications Server 2003”. This server will ship in the third-quarter of this year and offer corporate instant messaging, web and audio conferencing support. No word when videoconferencing will be added.
