Bill Gates’ CES keynote may have been short on innovations, but Microsoft’s Windows Media Center Extender sounds pretty cool. It allows a Media Center XP-equipped PC to wirelessly connect to the home TV and stereo. The PC is the storage hub for all digital media and the user gets to play it back with just about any device they wish. And the ugly PC doesn’t have to sit in the living room, it can be anywhere within range of the wireless network. Media Center Extender should be out by the end of the year.
