Disney may have been spurned by Pixar, but this week it announced a “long-term” deabl with Microsoft to work on digital media distribution projects using Redmond’s media format and DRM tools. The fruit of the deal will be digital movies that can be securely delivered to and played on a variety of devices. I’m sure it’ll be a while before we see anything from the two companies, but their combined weight in their respective industries should get something accomplished.
