The good news is the latest version of AOL Instant Messenger (version 5.5) has video capability. The bad news is you need Windows XP to use it. I found the video feature while fumbling around the various preferences in AIM on my home machine (XP) and was going to test it with my work laptop (Windows 2000) sitting near by. But the video option did not appear on my laptop. Digging into the help (how embarrassing that I used IM’s built-in help feature) turned up the Windows XP-only caveat. Oh well.
