Radvision this week announced version 3.5 of its Enhanced Communications Server (ECS) gateway. Among the highlights of the new release is the ability for a single gatekeep to manage multiple zones of bandwidth. Prior to this release, a seperate gateway was need for each zone. They’ve also added support for the H.350 standard, which allows endpoint information to be stored in any LDAP compatible directory, eliminating the need to maintain one directory for endpoints and another for all the other employee/customer contact information. Finally, they’ve added the abililty to manage users in groups, applying policies to a swath of users at a time, rather than having to do it individually. The starting price for an ECS 3.5 is about $13,000 for 50 concurrent calls.
