According to an article on the BBC’s Web site, TV-style Internet ads are on the rise as marketers are buoyed by success of recent trials. The ads, which work much like ESPN Motion with video cached locally before being played, have gotten a better reception than traditional Web ads, marketers say. I’ve run into a few of these ads and the reason they’re successful is that the close button has a one-pixel clickable area, making it near impossible to close it before the whole thing plays.
