Wainhouse Research’s first WebMetrics reports shows a shift coming in the way Web conferencing is administered and maintained in the enterprise. Over 1 in 10 respondents (12% to be exact) say that over the next 12 months they will move from a purely hosted service to a managed service, where the equipment is installed behind the firewall but maintained by a third party. If that number holds true, almost one-fifth of Web conferencing users will use managed services. Hosted services will still account for 64.7% of the business, with WebEx and Microsoft leading the way. What’s interesting is the number of companies bringing Web conferencing entirely in-house (roughly 25%) will remain flat.
