Desktop videoconferencing users will soon be able to take advantage of the H.264 video compression specification (same quality, half the bandwidth) with VCON’s new vPoint HD (high definition) endpoint software due out in Q2’04. vPoint can work as a standalone application running on a standard Windows desktop and uses a USB Webcam for input. Viewers can also tune in without a camera. The software is free for those that buy VCON’s Media Xchange Manager (MXM) product or $199 per desktop if bought separately.
