Another group is dipping its toes into the movie download business: RealNetworks and Starz have teamed up to deliver a slate of “premium” movies to customers for a monthly fee of $12.95. Users with high-speed connections (600K bit/sec) can download films and transfer them to up to 3 different machines for viewing. The video quality is good enough that you can output the video via S-Video to your TV, according to the companies. Movie downloads can be scheduled for overnight hours to help with potential bandwidth issues. I’m hoping to get a trial of this so I can report back with actual findings. If you’ve tried it out, leave a comment and let us know what you think.
