Sony announced today it will begin shipping SoundForge 8 at the end of February. SoundForge 8??!? I am still using SoundForge 4.5 XP for the most part, though I do have a copy of SoundForge 5 on another machine. Anyhow, the latest version, which I believe is the first to come from Sony since it bought the technology from Sonic Foundry, includes CD Architect 5.2 for mastering CDs and export functionality for created Red Book audio CDs. There’s also new scripting and batch capabilities for encoding multiple files in a single job. Users can also create a custom keyboard mapping based around their own workflow. SoundForge 8 will have a suggested price tag of $399.95.
