Slashdot has an interesting post about Web marketers replacing the browser cookie, which is often deleted by users, with Flash MX’s Persistent Identification Element (PIE) as a more reliable means of tracking the habits of Web surfers. Fortunately for you privacy nuts, there is a way to disable PIE.

The bigger question: Why are all these things named after food? PIE, Cookie… what’s next, pizza?
