Apple’s iWatch announcement — if all goes according to plan — is just a few days away and it’s not an overstatement to say that the tech world is waiting with baited breath to see what type of tricks Apple has up its sleeve. Just this week we relayed a quote from Apple design guru Jony Ive who reportedly said that Swiss watchmakers are in big “trouble” on account of the impending iWatch.
But a report published by Jessica Lessin of The Information earlier today suggests that we should perhaps temper our expectations a bit with respect to the iWatch, at least as it pertains to the device’s battery life.
“People who have talked to Apple about the watch said that Apple employees have set low expectations,” Lessin said. Lessin goes so far as to say that battery life on the device may be “disappointing.”
Of course, everything is relative and we don’t want to jump to conclusions just yet. Still, a number of reports over the past 12 months have indicated that one of Apple’s roadblocks with the device was getting it to last for up to two days between charges.
Apple’s reported goal, however, was to have the device last up to four to five days between charges. On a related note, and to keep things in perspective, the Moto 360 was released today and its battery life barely lasts a day, according to early reviews.
