What exactly American Airlines will do there is unclear
IBM today announced that American Airlines, considered by some metrics to be the largest airline in the world, would be using its cloud platform.

A press release announcing the deal provided scant details of how AA will use IBMs cloud. American “will move select enterprise applications to IBM’s Cloud,” is about the all it said, adding that AA has chosen IBM as its cloud provider but not saying the agreement is exclusive.
The timing of announcing the news should be noted: Amazon Web Services, considered the leader in IaaS public cloud, is holding its re:Invent conference this week in Las Vegas where many companies are expected to discuss how they’re using the AWS platform.
The news comes one day after AWS kicked off its re:invent show by announcing that $2 billion shipping company Mason is going “all in” on the AWS platform.
