Several news items this time coming from GENBAND from Mobile World Congress underway in Barcelona. GENBAND has unveiled a mobile app providing consumers with single screen management for unified communications, along with enhancements to the company’s IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) platform.
GENBAND’s “Mobile Life” is a unified communications application designed for the consumer market and families “on the go,” delivered as a feature via the GENBAND A2 Communications Application Server. The app is designed to simplify the way users communicate across devices, including their home and work mobile phones, tablets, set top boxes and computers.

Commenting in a statement, Mehmet Balos, chief marketing officer at GENBAND said, “Consumers depend more than ever on their mobile devices to deliver a range of capabilities traditionally offered in standalone solutions and applications. GENBAND Mobile Life brings it all together in one feature-rich application, from video conferencing to controlling TV settings to family schedules.”
Unified communications services for the individual user include instant and SMS messaging, email, address book, social network integration, photos, music libraries and video chat. Family-friendly features include Family Conference, Family Blended Address Book, Family Manager, Family Calendar, Family Communicator, Family File Sharing, Family TV Manager and Family Messaging.
In a separate announcement, GENBAND also introduced an IMS infrastructure solution that includes elements for both integrated and distributed IMS environments. An enhancement to GENBAND GENiUS, the solution fully integrates functionality from several key components of GENBAND’s product portfolio.
Charlie Vogt, president and CEO of GENBAND, commented in a statement saying, “The GENiUS Integrated IMS solution is a game changer for service providers who don’t want the complexity of deploying separate IMS elements and the burdens of integrating these separate elements into their operational systems and maintaining them on an on-going basis. The GENiUS Distributed IMS solution is ideal for those service providers who already have a Core IMS vendor and want to leverage the best-in-class elements of the GENiUS platform for a seamless migration from legacy to IP networks.”
