There are so many services available to do online presentations these days it’s hard to figure out which one to choose. Some of the offerings are definitely designed for enterprise scale use and feature complex management interfaces and all sorts of conference management tools which is great if you actually make use of them … which many organization really don’t …

The reality is that for the majority of online demos and presentations a simple, uncluttered systems that does the job and can do it ad hoc and for free is obviously the best choice … what we want is the “no-brainer” solution. And that’s what I have for you today …

The NB solution is Join.me (tag line “Rendering laser pointers pointless since 2010”) published by LogMeIn.com.

Join.me provides not only screen sharing but also telephone conferencing, chat, and participant management from computers running Windows 7, Vista, XP, Server 2003, Server 2008 (32 or 64-bit) or Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5 Intel-based), Snow Leopard (v10.6 Intel-based) while the participants need Flash Player 10 support with Internet Explorer 7+, Firefox 3, Chrome 5, or Safari 5.

All Join.me communications, which can support up to 250 participants, are conducted with 256-bit SSL encryption so your world domination plans will be safe until roll-out.

If you want more features and control then for $30 per month Join.me can also provide a “personal link” (a personal subdomain), a meeting scheduler, a meeting lock (the ability to start and stop meetings), control transfer (the ability to allow another participant to take over control of the presentation), and allow you to transfer files.

This is a terrific service that really should be part of your communications arsenal. For pay, it’s pretty cool; for free, it’s amazing!
