Apple opened first retail store in 2001, now has more than 400
Long before iPad 4, iPhone 5 and the iPad mini graced our world, Apple opened its first Apple Stores in 2001. Here’s an internal video from last year leaked onto the Web this week. The glass-and-chrome stores were Steve Jobs’ vision for boosting consumer sales via a great shopping experience. The feel-good video is chock full of Apple’s bravado/pretentiousness, as Apple discusses its philosophy on the retail store experience and making stores fit into their locations, especially in famous cities such as London and Paris.
