Wireless Headset H820e geared to UC and soft-phone users

Logitech H820e headset

Logitech today has a new wireless headset on the market – the company announced its Wireless Headset H820e, geared towards workers who use unified communications and PC-based soft phones.

The H820e includes a noise-canceling microphone, acoustic echo cancellation and digital signal processing to help deliver better sound in noisy work environments, the company says. The headset is optimized for Microsoft Lync, and will also work with other UC systems and soft phone applications, including Cisco platforms, Logitech added.

Built on the Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) standard, the H820e can move up to 300 feet away from the transceiver/charging base and still provide audio. Having the headset on DECT helps avoid interference, an issue with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-based units, Logitech says.

Other features include an in-call LED indicator light on the back of the microphone boom (preventing people from interrupting you during a call) and on-ear volume control buttons. The models are expected to be available worldwide in May 2013 for $179.99 (mono, one ear) and $199.99 (dual, both ears). A corded version ($79.99 for mono, $89.99 for stereo) is available now; it connects via USB port.

We’ll let you know what we think of the unit once review samples come into the office.
