10 years after co-founding company, he’s ready for something new
Jason Hoffman, the CTO and public face of cloud provider Joyent is stepping down from his position, although he will remain an advisor to the company he co-founded.

Joyent has been building up its reputation in the market as an innovative and technically strong provider that’s attempting to rub elbows with mega-vendors of the market like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Google and Rackspace. The company has created its own operating system which it runs in its public cloud that users can deploy on their own premises, for example.
Earlier this year it launched Manta, a cloud-based integrated compute and storage offering which Hoffman described at the time as the culmination of years worth of research and development.
In an e-mail Hoffman said he doesn’t have specific plans of what’s next for him, but he’s interested in mobile, machine to machine and big data projects.
