That was fast: Beckett out, Lester in, all is well

Yesterday we brought you a decidedly trivial gripe about a large photo of former Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett still sullying a subway station near Fenway Park a full 14 months after the trade that sent Mr. Chicken-and-Beer to the Dodgers and sparked the local team’s pennant-winning turnaround.

Twenty-four hours later and not only is Beckett’s mug gone, it has been replaced by one of Jon Lester, who will start for the Red Sox in Game 1 of the World Series just after 8 p.m. tonight.

Now I’d like to tell you that this was all my doing, but that would be a stretch. Instead, credit here goes to my former Network World colleague Adam Gaffin, publisher of the all-things-Boston website Universal Hub, who posted an item pointing to mine yesterday that caught the attention of the right person at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. The MBTA just emailed Gaffin the picture of Lester to show that their work there was done.
