OpenStack goes “Between two ferns”

Those open source folks over at OpenStack seem to know how to keep conferences light.

This week more than 4,500 OpenStack faithful have descended upon Atlanta for the organization’s bi-annual summit. During one of the keynote sessions by OpenStack Foundation executive Mark Collier, he brought up on stage someone who looked at awful lot like Hollywood actor Zack Galifianakis.

(The whole video is 54 minutes, but the fun starts at 41:51. Here’s a link to the full video.)

If you’re not familiar with why this is funny, then refer to the website Funny or Die and check out Galifianakis’s recurring series of short “Between Two Ferns” videos. The sketch gained wide popularity when President Obama was featured on the show. It’s pretty dry humor, but it’s funny.

While the real Galifianakis didn’t show up at the OpenStack summit, the bit is still pretty good. And now OpenStack has its own version of Between Two Ferns.
