Apple tablet “beta user” reveals details

Well, some details and lots of superlatives

A Web entrepreneur, who claims he’s actually been beta testing the rumored Apple Tablet for the past two weeks, has been posting some details and much praise about it on via his account on Twitter.

TechRadar’s Adam Hartley has pulled together in one place many of both.

The lucky guy is Jason Calacanis, CEO of Mahalo, described as a”human-powered search engine dedicated to help people easily find information and resources they can trust.” He’s not telling the name of the device or showing any photographs.

[UPDATE: I want to emphasize there’s no way of knowing at this point whether he really is a beta user or this is some kind of prank.]

The highlights:

– 3 models, priced at $599, $699, and $799,depending on screen size, internal memory

– system software is a variant of the iPhone OS, with multi-tasking enabled!

– OLED screen

– side-mounted thumb pads on both sides, for mouse actions

– back-mounted solar charging pad

– HDTV tuner, two cameras (front facing, rear facing)

– wireless keyboard and monitor connectivity

– Verizon and AT&T will be selling it (unclear whether they are the exclusive sales channels)

– “super stable” video conferencing

The tablet can connect with its brethren via Wi-Fi for interacting gaming, according to Calacanis.

Apple is scheduled to unveil its “newest creation” today at 1 pm Eastern. You can follow a liveblog at our sister publication Macworld.
