Professional services firms more likely to use iSCSI
endif; ?>Some types of organizations, such as professional services firms, are far more likely than others, such as healthcare organizations, to use iSCSI widely. Already, professional services firms Nemertes benchmarks have two-thirds of their systems connected via iSCSI, and they expect to have three-quarters on within two years. These firms tend not to have a lot of systems with very high storage performance requirements, such as OLTP systems and their databases, but instead lots of document-based systems and storage. Contrast that to healthcare organizations we spoke to, which are on average actually decreasing the percentage of systems using iSCSI for the time being, not by removing it, but because they expect to greatly increase the number of systems instead connecting to their existing Fibre Channel networks.
