You can now customize Chrome or try it on platforms other than Windows
Big news today for Google Chrome browser lovers and wanna be Chrome lovers: beta versions for the Mac and for Linux have become available and, at least as exciting, Chrome extensions have arrived. Chrome couldn’t hope to compete with Firefox until it offered users the ways and means to customize their browsers with add-ons. Today, a beta repository of extensions has been launched, complete with more than 300 extensions.
Extensions are only available for the Windows and Linux versions (sorry Macs, Google says the extensions haven’t hit beta quality yet).
According the gallery that lists the extensions, these are the most popular ones so far:
Google Mail CheckerDisplays the number of unread messages in your Google Mail inbox and gives you one-click access. RSS Subscription Extension
Adds one-click subscription to your toolbar
This extension translates entire webpages into a language of your choice with one click.
Xmarks for Chrome Beta is a beta preview of the popular bookmarking site, Xmarks.
Blocks ads on websites. Includes the EasyList ad filter list as of 8 Dec 2009.
A Twitter extension that allows you to follow your tweets and interact with older tweets.
