Today’s layoff news comes from AT&T, which says it will let 12,000 workers go throughout 2009. That’s a lot of people, yet it only represents 4% of AT&T’s workforce. Also sounding like a lot is the $600 million that AT&T will have to spend for severance payments to those workers.
