A Tel Aviv University researcher says quantum computers aren’t far off, and he says once they’re here we’re going to need something stronger than current RSA encryption
“You don’t want this information to remain secure for just 5 or 10 years until quantum computers are built,” says Prof. Oded Regev. “You want it to be safe for the next century. We need to develop alternatives to RSA now, before it’s too late.”
Sure enough, Regev has a plan, and he’s publishing his findings in the Journal of the Association for Computing Machinery. Researchers at Stanford and MIT are building on Regev’s work as well, Tel Aviv University says.
