No, Microsoft Exam Prices are NOT Rising

Prices for goods and services are rising and this is expected, but as of today’s truth, the price for a Microsoft Exam is NOT going to increase.  In an article from Michael Domingo he thought that the price for Microsoft exams were going to increase as “the possibility is there, and I believe the folks on the Born to Learn blog hinted around that it might happen”*

After reading Michael’s article this morning, I asked Ken Rosen if prices were going to increase:

“I don’t know. The topic has come up—but then again, the topic comes up every year about this time (we’re getting ready to go into planning mode for our next fiscal year, which starts July 1st). There’s quite a chain of internal events that starts when a decision like a price increase is made, and while it doesn’t necessarily take a long time to complete that chain, I haven’t heard it rattle yet.”

Nothing in that statement or in any other posting on the Born to Learn site (or from Ken Rosen either) hints or indicates that they are going to raise the cost for exams this year, or any time soon. Ken did add that:

“I think we’ve held the line on our certification fees pretty well, and better than most of our competitors: in fact, our exam prices haven’t increased in seven years, and before that you’d have to go back another seven years.”

No, this is not a time for the Chicken Little’s of the world to voice objections about Microsoft exam prices rising.  Will exam prices increase in the future?  Yes, at some point they will, but right now, they are holding steady.
