Committee picks successor to company in liquidation

Cisco has replaced Nortel as the supplier of IP networking gear for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The London organizing committee was not confident that Nortel, which filed for bankruptcy in January, could meet its deadlines and single supplier needs while it liquidates assets.

The London games may take a sponsorship hit in the wallet, however. This report by Reuters suggests Cisco may contribute half of what Nortel agreed to when it was tapped as a Tier One partner.
