Q4 results from Akamai, Keynote, Radware and Riverbed

The numbers are in for the quarter ended Dec. 31, and a handful of WAN optimization and application delivery vendors shared some encouraging gains in revenue and profit. Here’s the upshot:
Riverbed Technology saw its sales climb 22% compared to the year-ago quarter. For the three months ended Dec. 31, Riverbed announced revenue of $113 million, compared with $92 million in last year’s fourth quarter.
Net income came in at $900,000 (1 cent per share), compared to $23 million (33 cents per share) a year ago. On a non-GAAP basis, net income for the quarter came in at $16 million (21 cents per share), compared with $14 million (19 cents per share) a year ago.
Meanwhile, Radware reported revenue of $32 million for the fourth quarter, a gain of 29% compared to $25 million for the year-ago quarter. For the full year, Radware reported revenue of $109 million, an increase of 15% compared with $95 million in 2008. Net income for the quarter came in at $1.7 million (9 cents per share), compared to a net loss of $7.1 million (38 cents per share) in the fourth quarter of 2008.
At Akamai Technologies, fourth quarter revenue grew to $238 million, up 12% compared to $213 million in the year-ago quarter. Total revenue for 2009 was $860 million, a 9% increase over 2008 revenue of $791 million. Net income for the quarter was $40.1 million (21 cents per share), a slight decline compared to $40.5 million a year ago.
At Keynote Systems, revenue for the quarter ended Dec.31 came in at $20.7 million, compared to $20.6 million for the year-ago quarter. Net income for the quarter was $981,000 (7 cents per share), compared to $886,000 (6 cents per share) a year ago. For the current quarter ending March 31, Keynote is projecting revenue between $18.9 million and $19.4 million.
