The Iogear Digital Scribe changes the equation, being tiny enough to take everywhere, as it’s just a couple of cubic inches with a retractable USB cord. Setup was a breeze, and the device comes with two applications for both image capture and text recognition.
But don’t get too excited about the handwriting recognition – it was problematic in our testing. But for capturing sketches and such, the Digital Scribe is an elegant solution. I also don’t understand why it can’t easily mount to a standard pad of paper. The clips provided were too small. Apart from that, this is a pretty cool tool if you do a lot of drawing and need to digitize the drawings quickly for distribution to co-workers.
